Family-centered approach to build self-reliance of vulnerable households. The primary participant of this program is the household, with particular attention to women and children, and secondarily the whole community. In this way, the program makes services available that respond to the unique needs and vulnerabilities of each household, guided by fine-tuned needs mapping and the development and implementation of innovative “household development plans”. Each household is guided along a pathway towards increased self-reliance. At the same time, using a children’s rights approach, the program supports the creation of an enabling environment in which children are valued and cared for and protected from abuse, neglect and exploitation. The family approach has been central to SCORE’s lead agency, AVSI, throughout its programmatic experience for vulnerable children, as reflected in its Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development.
